AWARENESS RAISING ON RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

A short term project on “Awareness raising on rights of indigenous poeple” funded by FIMI, an indigenous women’s forum, USA was implemented in 2021. The project was led by MS members Ms. Tuka Cheki Sherpa.

1. Training Workshop

A two days training workshop on “Awareness Raising on Rights of Indigenous Peoples” was organized on 16 & 17 January 2021. Mountain Spirit organized this two-days training workshop with the support of International Indigenous Women Forum (IIWF) – FIMI. The workshop was held in Kathmandu. There were 28 participants and 3 facilitators in total. Among them 19 were female and 12 were male.

2. Workshop on “Consultation and Documentation on Indigenous Seeds and Food System of Tamang Indigenous Peoples”

A four days training workshop on “Consultation and Documentation on Indigenous seeds and food system of Tamang Indigenous People” was organized in Gatlang Village, Ama Chodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa. This workshop was conducted with the support of International Indigenous Women Forum (IIWF) – FIMI. Consultation meetings were conducted with key stakeholders, local community peoples, and key knowledge holders from 31st Jan to 3rd Feb 2021. A follow up visit to Gatlang Village was organized to verify the information collected from the community. A meeting with the community was conducted on 26th Feb 2021.
